Hardik Pandya Set to Leave Mumbai Indians in Blockbuster IPL 2027 Trade

Hardik Pandya is reportedly set to leave Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2027 season. The all-rounder is expected to join Punjab Kings in a major trade deal.

According to reports, senior officials from both franchises have reached an agreement in principle. The paperwork is expected to be submitted to the IPL authorities soon.

As part of the deal, Punjab Kings are expected to send Arshdeep Singh and Vishnu Vinod to Mumbai Indians. An official announcement could come before the November 17 retention deadline.

The BCCI recently extended the deadline from November 15 to November 17. This gives the two franchises more time to complete the trade.

Reports also suggest that Kolkata Knight Riders had held serious talks with Mumbai Indians over a possible Hardik trade. At least one other franchise was also involved in early discussions.

Why are Mumbai Indians ready to trade Hardik?

Hardik’s three-season spell as Mumbai Indians captain did not produce the desired results. The team struggled in the IPL standings during his time as skipper.

The 2026 season was especially difficult. Mumbai won only four of their 14 matches and finished ninth in the table.

Hardik had returned to Mumbai Indians before the 2024 season. He joined the franchise through an all-cash trade from Gujarat Titans.

His two seasons with Gujarat were highly successful. He led the franchise to the IPL title in 2022.

A move to Punjab Kings would give Hardik a fresh start. It would also provide Mumbai with a chance to rebuild their squad.

For Punjab, losing Arshdeep would be a major change. The left-arm pacer has been an important part of their bowling attack.

Meanwhile, Vishnu Vinod is also expected to move to Mumbai as part of the deal.

Punjab Kings have also been linked with another possible trade. Lucknow Super Giants are reportedly considering a deal involving Marcus Stoinis and Mohsin Khan. However, those talks remain at an early stage.

The Hardik trade is now the main focus, with both franchises expected to complete the deal before the November 17 deadline.
