Abhishek Sharma Powers India to Fastest T20I Hundred in Just Five Overs

India opener Abhishek Sharma produced a stunning batting display against New Zealand in the third T20I at Wellington on October 27, 2026. The left-handed batter smashed 113 runs from just 38 balls.

His explosive knock helped India reach 100 runs in only five overs. It became India’s fastest team hundred in men’s T20I cricket.

Abhishek attacked the New Zealand bowlers from the first ball. His aggressive batting gave India a remarkable start. He played a major role in helping India cross the 100-run mark in only 30 deliveries.

India’s effort is also the second-fastest team hundred in men’s T20I cricket among matches with available ball-by-ball data.

Eswatini hold the top spot. They reached 100 in 4.5 overs against Mozambique in Malkerns in 2026.

India Break Their Own Record

India’s five-over hundred is the fastest by a full-member nation in men’s T20I cricket. It also comfortably broke their previous national record.

India had previously reached 100 in 5.6 overs against Afghanistan in Delhi earlier in 2026.

Their other fastest team hundreds include 100 in 6.3 overs against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in 2025. They also reached the same mark in 6.3 overs against New Zealand in Guwahati in 2026.

India’s fifth-fastest hundred came against Namibia in Delhi in 2026. They reached 100 in 6.5 overs.

The all-time list is led by Eswatini at 4.5 overs. India follow at five overs. Romania reached 100 in 5.2 overs against Serbia in 2021.

South Africa and Australia complete the top five. Both teams reached the milestone in 5.3 overs.

Abhishek’s 113 off 38 balls was the main reason behind India’s incredible start. His strike rate of more than 297 helped India rewrite their own record and produce one of the fastest team hundreds in T20I history.
