Arjun Tendulkar’s chances of playing in IPL 2026 look uncertain. Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has shared a strong opinion on the youngster.
Arjun was traded from Mumbai Indians before the mini-auction. He will now play for Lucknow Super Giants. The franchise picked him at his base price of INR 30 lakh.
However, Ashwin believes Arjun may not get a chance to play. He pointed out that LSG already have many strong fast bowlers in their squad.
“Arjun Tendulkar khelega hi nahi (Arjun Tendulkar won’t play at all), and let’s not even go there. I think it is very difficult because there are Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Shamiin this lineup. There are so many fast bowlers. How will he play? I don’t think he makes any case unless and until there are a lot of injuries,” Ashwin remarked on his YouTube channel.
Ravichandran Ashwin questions LSG’s overall strength
Arjun started his T20 career in 2021. He was first signed by Mumbai Indians in the same year. So far, he has played 29 T20 matches. He has taken 35 wickets and scored 189 runs. In the IPL, he has played only five matches and picked up three wickets.
Ashwin also spoke about LSG’s chances this season. He does not see them as a strong team. He feels they may struggle to finish in the top half of the table.
“I have pure clarity of the teams that will be in the top three. Four, five, and six is going to be a race, and LSG is not even in that four, five, or six, in my view. They will fall out of the six,” Ashwin said.
Lucknow Super Giants will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals on April 1.
