Shai Hope Leads West Indies Into Super Eights as Nepal Bow Out of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

West Indies are enjoying a memorable campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The former champions have won all three matches so far. The victories have secured their place in the Super Eight stage of the tournament.

Captain Shai Hope is pleased with the team’s performance. He has also found his touch with the bat. On Sunday, Hope scored an unbeaten 61 to guide West Indies to a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Nepal.

“I’m not sure I’m a big fan of the word form, because we are all international cricketers, we can get big runs one day and then the next day we can get a first ball (dismissal),” Hope said.

He also spoke about teamwork and understanding players’ strengths.

“It’s just about understanding what’s really working for you on the day and as a team head, I define who’s going well and try to support it, and vice versa. If someone’s not going as well as they would like (to), the others pull them along.”

West Indies will now travel to Kolkata for their final group match against Italy. Hope believes shared responsibility is helping the side.

“It’s good to see everyone chipping in in different and various ways. It’s not the same person necessarily performing every game, so it’s a good sign from the team standpoint,” Hope added.

Nepal apologise to fans after getting knocked out of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Nepal’s experienced player Sompal Kami apologised to supporters after the team’s exit. Many fans filled the Wankhede Stadium during their matches.

After a close loss to England, Nepal struggled in the next games against Italy and West Indies.

“The way we played against England and how we played today was totally different and we are upset. We just wanted to say sorry to all the Nepalese cricket fans and we hope to come back strongly for sure,” Kami said.

Nepal will now play Scotland in their last league match on Tuesday.
