The Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 is expected to take place in the United Arab Emirates from August 28 to September 13, according to a report by Cricinfo. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has not yet made an official announcement regarding the tournament’s dates, venue or match schedule.
ACC Yet to Officially Confirm Dates, Venue and Schedule
As per the report, the final venues are still being decided. Eight teams are expected to compete in the tournament. These include defending champions Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand and hosts UAE.
Teams have reportedly been informed that they should arrive on August 27. The final is expected to be played on September 13.
Official confirmation still awaited
The ACC has internally informed participating boards about the planned schedule. However, the council is still waiting for final approval before making a public announcement.
The delay has already affected preparations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced India’s squad for the tournament earlier. It later withdrew the squad after stating that the ACC had not officially confirmed the event.
The lack of a formal announcement has also created uncertainty for other participating teams. Cricket boards are planning based on internal communication instead of an official schedule. This has made squad selection and travel planning more difficult.
The Women’s Asia Cup will end just a few days before the 2026 Asian Games begin in Nagoya, Japan. The women’s cricket competition at the Asian Games is scheduled to be held from September 17 to September 24.
The short gap between the two tournaments means teams will have limited time to travel and prepare. Several countries are expected to use many of the same players in both competitions.
With no official announcement from the ACC yet, participating teams continue to wait for confirmation of the tournament schedule. Until then, preparations are expected to continue based on the information shared with member boards.
