Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 to begin on August 28 in Dubai; India vs Pakistan clash set for September 5

The Asian Cricket Council has confirmed the schedule for the sixth edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. The tournament will begin on August 28, 2026, and end on September 13, 2026. All matches will be played under lights at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Every game will start at 6:30 pm local time.

Eight teams will compete for the title. They have been divided into two groups. Group A includes India, Pakistan, Hong Kong China and Thailand. Group B features defending champions Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia and the UAE.

The opening match on August 28 will be between Hong Kong China and Thailand. One of the biggest matches of the group stage will take place on September 5 when India face Pakistan.

India-Pakistan clash headlines group stage

Each team will play the other three teams in its group. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

Another important group-stage match will be played on September 6 when Sri Lanka take on Bangladesh. Sri Lanka enter the tournament as the defending champions after winning the 2024 edition. India have lifted the Women’s T20 Asia Cup title three times, in 2012, 2016 and 2022. Bangladesh won the trophy in 2018.

The first semi-final is scheduled for September 10. It will feature the Group A winners against the Group B runners-up. The second semi-final will be played on September 11 between the Group B winners and the Group A runners-up.

Since India and Pakistan are in the same group, they cannot meet in the semi-finals. A second meeting between the two rivals is only possible if both teams qualify for the final.

The Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 final will be held on September 13 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, bringing the 17-day tournament to a close.
