“We will bring IPL back to Bengaluru”- Venkatesh Prasad Confirms Bid for KSCA President

Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has officially confirmed that he will contest for the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Presidential post. He filed his nomination on November 13.

Prasad is seen as one of the top contenders for the role. He has strong support from legendary India cricketers Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath. Both have earlier served in key positions within the KSCA. Prasad said he wants to bring positive change to the association. He believes that cricket in Karnataka has suffered in recent years.

According to him, administrative politics has taken priority over the growth of the sport. He wants to bring back the old days when Karnataka was known for its strong domestic cricket structure.

Venkatesh Prasad Promises Cricket Revival in Karnataka

“We are here for a purpose and for a cause. Cricket’s revival is the main priority and making sure that our domestic structure gets back the way it used to be when Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath were heading the association. We have seen the decline in cricket since. The sport has taken a backseat. And now we want to revive that,” Venkatesh Prasad told reporters on Thursday afternoon.

Prasad also spoke about the famous M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He wants to make sure the ground regains its lost charm. He plans to prepare a clear roadmap to bring back more cricket to the venue.

He also wants Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to return to their home stadium for the IPL. There were issues after the stampede incident on June 4.

This happened just a day after RCB won their first IPL title in Ahmedabad. Prasad said he wants to make things right and ensure that fans feel safe and connected to the stadium again.

“We are going to work extremely hard to make sure that the Bengaluru team (RCB) plays at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the upcoming IPL. We would also work to bring back glory to the Chinnaswamy (Stadium) that it has lost in the recent past,” Prasad added.

Reports suggest that RCB may play their home matches in Pune for the 2026 IPL season. Discussions are reportedly ongoing with the Maharashtra Cricket Association. Pune’s MCA Stadium could become RCB’s temporary home if the final decision is made.
