WC 2023: India beat Netherlands by 160 runs; becomes the only team to remain unbeaten with 18 points

India And Netherlands recently encountered each other for the 45th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on 12 November, Saturday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India won the toss and chose to bat and put a high score on the board. 

India became the only team tournament to remain unbeaten as they defeated all the eight competing nations in the World Cup 2023. India put a huge score on the board as all the top order batters collectively put runs together. The opening batters Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had a huge partnership as they scored 61 and 51 runs each. Team’s former captain Virat Kohli also scored 51 runs off 56 balls.

The middle order batters and centurions Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul added to the team’s score at the eighth position in the batting order and scored 128 and 102 off 94 and 64  balls after hitting 10 fours and 5 sixes and 11 fours and 4 sixes respectively to lead India towards the score of 410.

India beat Netherlands by 160 runs ahead of the Semi-Final against New Zealand on 15 November at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Netherlands failed to defend the high target of 411 runs in 50 overs and India won the game by 160 runs in 47.5 overs. 

“Since we started the tournament, for us, it was all about thinking about one game at a time and playing that game well. We never wanted to look too far ahead because it’s a long tournament. It was important for us to break it down and focus on one game and play that well. That is what everyone did”, said Rohit Sharma

“You play in different venues and different conditions, you got to adapt and play accordingly, that’s exactly what we did. Very pleased with how we have played in these nine games. Very clinical from game one till today. That’s because different individuals have stepped up at different times” he added.
