Former explosive opener of the Indian team Virender Sehwag is very impressed with the performance of young wicket-keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma of Punjab Kings. Sehwag said that Jitesh Sharma has found the basics of T20 batting and is doing a great job following that.
Virender Sehwag also said that Jitesh Sharma will be seen playing in the Indian team in the next one year. Hesaid, “I always tell kids just watch the ball and then do whatever you want with it. Whether you want to leave the ball, want to defend or send it across the boundary. It’s the simple basics of batting and Jitesh Sharma is doing just that.”
Sehwag further said, “Jitesh Sharma was playing after seeing the ball. If the ball was about to be shot, he swung the shots. Otherwise he took singles. In T20 format, you cannot drop the ball. He is doing it in a very simple way. Sehwag said that the bowling attack of Mumbai Indians was weak, but Jitesh Sharma had to work hard to get those runs.”
Jitesh Sharma had played an excellent inning of 49 not out against Mumbai Indians. He had an unbeaten century partnership for the fourth wicket with Liam Livingstone (82)*. However, Punjab Kings could not register a win in this match. Jitesh Sharma has played 22 matches in his IPL career so far and has scored 473 runs at a strike rate of 164.81. He has scored 239 runs in 10 matches in IPL 2023 at a strike rate of 165.97.
