Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli had a memorable outing with the bat but stayed off the field during the second innings in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
Kohli scored a solid 50 off 37 balls. His innings helped RCB post a big total of 240-5 in the first innings. He looked in great touch during his stay at the crease. However, he could not convert his knock into a big score. Just after reaching his fifty, he got out on the very next ball. He tried to go big but was caught at long-on off a delivery from Hardik Pandya.
Kohli Sits Out Second Innings Due to Injury
When RCB came out to field, Kohli was not seen on the ground. Later, visuals confirmed that Jacob Bethell replaced him on the field. This raised concerns among fans.
It was later revealed that Kohli had a minor ankle issue. He did not field as a precaution. The injury is not serious. He is expected to return in the next match.
Despite missing Kohli on the field, RCB bowlers did a good job. Mumbai Indians started their chase well. But they lost wickets in the middle overs.
Rohit Sharma was batting well for Mumbai. However, he had to retire hurt due to a problem in his left hamstring. This made things difficult for his team.
In the end, RCB managed to control the game. They won the match comfortably and continued their strong run in the tournament.
