Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has completed his fitness test in England. He became the first Indian cricketer from the current team to do the assessment outside the country. The Virat Kohli fitness test was done under the supervision of the BCCI. Reports say he got permission from the board to take the test abroad.
Kohli was last seen in IPL 2025. He is now preparing for a return to international cricket. His comeback is expected in October for the ODI series against Australia. This will mark his first game for India after months away from the national side.
While Virat Kohli chose England for the test, other Indian players went to Bengaluru. The BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru remains the main fitness hub. ODI captain Rohit Sharma also did his fitness test there.

Virat Kohli has retired from Test cricket and T20Is. He now focuses only on ODIs. His big dream is to play in the ODI World Cup 2027. Sources say he plans to retire from international cricket after that tournament.
Other top players are also set for fitness checks. Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant will undergo their tests in September. Young talents like Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy are also on the list. Players who missed the first round due to injury or illness will join them next month.

The BCCI has made fitness standards a priority. Every player must clear the test before the upcoming series. Kohli’s choice to do the assessment in England shows his personal focus on preparation. He has often trained in England and calls fitness his top strength.
