India Under-19 won the Under-19 World Cup 2026 after defeating England Under-19 by 100 runs in the final on February 6 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. With this victory, India lifted the trophy for a record sixth time and continued its dominance in youth cricket.
India batted first and produced a huge total of 411/9 in 50 overs. The innings was powered by a brilliant performance from opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Captain Ayush Mhatre also made an important contribution with a half-century. For England, James Minto was the best bowler with 3/63.
England tried to chase the target but were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs. Ben Dawkins scored 66, while Caleb Falconer fought hard with 115. India’s bowlers stayed calm under pressure. RS Ambrish led the attack and took 3/56 to secure the victory.
Top batting performances of the match – Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played an unforgettable innings. He smashed 175 runs from just 80 balls. His knock included 15 fours and 15 sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 218.75 and dominated the England bowlers from the start.
He shared a 142-run second-wicket partnership with captain Ayush Mhatre. Later, he added 89 runs with Vedant Trivedi for the third wicket. These partnerships pushed India to a massive total and put England under early pressure.
RS Ambrish also impressed with the ball. The right-arm pacer dismissed Joseph Moores, James Minto, and Manny Lumsden in his nine-over spell.
Sooryavanshi created history by winning both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament. He scored 439 runs in seven matches during the competition.
The final produced a combined 722 runs, the highest in Under-19 World Cup history. The match also saw 31 sixes, another record. India’s 100-run win became the biggest margin in a final.
The title adds to India’s growing list of ICC trophies and highlights the strength of its young cricket talent.
