The United States have officially announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament will be held in Sri Lanka and India. This will be USA’s second appearance at an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
USA made a strong impression in their debut tournament in 2024. They shocked the cricket world by defeating Pakistan in a thrilling match. That win became one of the biggest moments of the competition. USA also reached the Super 8 stage. It was a historic achievement for American cricket. The team will now aim to repeat that success in 2026.
Monank Patel to lead USA in second World Cup appearance
USA Cricket remains suspended by the ICC due to governance and financial issues. The ICC Board decided that players should not suffer because of these problems. As a result, USA national teams are allowed to take part in ICC events under interim ICC coordination. A new selection process was created with the ICC and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee. This was done to ensure fairness and transparency. All selectors submitted Conflict of Interest forms. A USOPC Compliance Officer observed the selection meeting.
As part of their preparation, Team USA trained for several weeks in Sri Lanka. The focus was on subcontinental conditions. The camp worked on skills, match awareness, and team bonding.
USA have been placed in Group A. They will face Pakistan, Namibia, the Netherlands, and defending champions India. Their tournament will begin on February 7 against India in Mumbai.
