In view to make fitness an integral part of our daily lives under the vision of the “Fit India Movement” launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji – New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Vice Chairman – Shri Satish Upadhyay distributes prizes amongst the winners of 23rd National Rope Skipping-Jump Rope Championship in a concluding ceremony organized by Rope Skipping Federation of India (RSFI) at NDMC Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi today.
Shri Upadhyay informed that this 3 Day event has been organized by the Rope Skipping Federation of India (RSFI) from 17th – 19th October 2022 in New Delhi wherein 900 students coming from 19 different states across India have participated in this event. Students from various education organisation viz DAV, Vidya Bharti and Kendriya Vidyalaya students participated for the first time in this event.
Shri Upadhyay said that sports & fitness activities are great for keeping a healthy heart, body, mind & soul. In order to promote Fit India initiative, Rope Skipping Federation of India (RSFI) has organized this championship. The mission of the Movement is to bring about behavioral changes and move towards a more physically active lifestyle.
Shri Upadhyay congratulated RSFI for taking this initiative. He said that the efforts of RSFI is commendable and are aligned with the movement of Fit India, the dream of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji.
Shri Upadhyay said that every school should include rope jumping activities in its curriculum to keep the students fit. He said that through schools, players could be prepared for national, Asian, Commonwealth Olympic and world competitions and PM’s dream of Fit India could also be fulfilled. He said that today players from all over India have gathered in this courtyard which is a matter of pride for all of us.
Shri Upadhyay said that this is the first major event of rope skipping after the pandemic as 590 medals in different categories were distributed today in total 14 events of different styles and variations. Emphasizing the importance of positive aspects of physical fitness, Shri Upadhyay said that such championships not only help in maintaining physical and mental fitness and enthusiasm, but also play a vital role in enhancing stamina and mental capacity. He said that sports also make a person healthy, strong and stress-free.
He wished the players good luck and said that the game should be played with the spirit of the game. He said that sports connect people and when individuals play as a team/ championship, they learn a lot from each other and most importantly build trust and improve relationships.
After distributing the prize, Shri Upadhyay interacts with participants and motivates them toward fitness & health. He said that Skipping rope is the best cardio exercise as it increases the heart rate. He said that Skipping significantly reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. He said that jumping rope for 5 minutes is equivalent to running 10 kilometers. He said that nowadays it is very important to be health conscious in the era of wrong eating habits of children.
While giving the details of prizes, Shri Upadhyay informed that Delhi states got the highest prizes i.e.148 whereas Andhra Pradesh-84, Assam-08, Bihar-10, Chhattisgarh-12, Dadar Nagar Haveli-18, DAV-06, Haryana-51, Jammu Kashmir-87, Jharkhand-38, Karnatak-47, Kendriya Vidyalaya-23, Madhya Pradesh-103, Maharashtra-75, Rajasthan-06, Taligana-52, Uttarpradesh-32, Uttrakhand-20, Vidya Bharti-12.
On the occasion, the General Secretary –RSFI, Shri Nirdesh Sharma appreciated the efforts of his entire team of state associations and coaches who constantly made efforts to teach their students even during the pandemic using technology in the form of vartual. He further said that Rope Skipping is the basic warm-up activity for any sport and Rope Skipping itself is vast on its own and would like to see participants from every sport compete in Rope Skipping and keep themselves fit & fine.
Besides, Shri Ravi Dutt Gaur – National Sr.Vice President (RSFI), Tarsam Sharma – Cashier(RSFI), Shri Sanjay Patil & Shri Shekhar Raju – National Vice President(RSFI), Dr Piyush Jain- General Secretary(PEFI), Shri Sanjay Prajapati- Legal Advisor(RSFI), Shri Ashok Kumar Nirbaya – Media Advisor(RSFI) alongwith thousands of participants were present on this concluding ceremony.
