The Ajit Agarkar-led All India Senior Men’s Selection Committee has announced India’s squads for the upcoming Australia tour. The series will feature both ODIs and T20Is. Big changes have been made in the ODI set-up with Shubman Gill named as the new captain.
Gill is all set to take over the ODI captaincy from Rohit Sharma with Shreyas Iyer as his deputy. Rohit Sharma may be sackef captaincy but he still remains in the squad along with Virat Kohli. The selectors have made this move keeping the next ICC ODI World Cup in mind, which is only a couple of years away.
In T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav will continue as the skipper. He will be supported by Shubman Gill as vice-captain. The selectors have given opportunities to young players like Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Harshit Rana.
The announcement comes at an important time as India is planning its roadmap for the future. The tour is expected to be a tough test against Australia, who are strong at home.
