Gujarat Titans entered the IPL 2026 mini-auction with a remaining purse of INR 12.90 crore, having already settled most of their squad requirements. The franchise focused on addressing a few minor gaps during the much-anticipated auction, which took place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the Titans enjoyed a solid campaign last season and qualified for the playoffs. Their journey ended in Qualifier 1, where they suffered a defeat against the Mumbai Indians. Ahead of the auction, the former champions retained five core players and completed one trade in the previous month, giving them stability and balance.
GT adopted a measured approach at the auction and avoided aggressive bidding. Despite a relatively quiet day, they added valuable experience by signing seasoned all-rounder Jason Holder. They also made a smart tactical move by picking up young Rajasthan pacer Ashok Sharma, who has impressed with his ability to consistently clock speeds around 150 kph in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
