India’s pacer Mohammed Siraj and attacking opening batsman Shubman Gill have recently claimed the number 1 Position in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings. Siraj and Gill have become the number one in their respective fields for India ahead of the semifinals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after beating Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam respectively.
Shubman Gill had taken over the Pakistani captain Babar Azam who was crowned as the number one ranked batsman for over one year. Shubman now has 830 rating points in the ODI Rankings, while Azam has slipped down to 824 points.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 hosts India, has showed an incredible skill set in the tournament and have remained unbeaten and are sitting on the top of the points table with 16 points after playing 8 games in the World Cup 2023.
India has beaten all the participating nations in the World Cup 2023, except for Netherlands. India will play their last league game of the tournament before the semifinals against Netherlands on 12 November at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

“If you look at how we have played in the last three games, we have adapted better. We were put under pressure against England. But we got a decent score and then the seamers did the job. We lost a wicket in the first over. Then got runs and then the seamers did well. We needed Kohli to go out there and play the situation”, said Rohit Sharma after India beat South Africa by 243 runs.
“The last two games has shown what Iyer is capable of. Gill and myself have been batting together for a majority of time now. We let the instincts take over. We don’t preplan anything. We just assess and play accordingly”, added Rohit.
