Shreyas Iyer spoke for the first time on being left out of the central contract, told why he did not get a place?

Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer said on Friday that he did not get a place in the T20 World Cup team due to a lack of communication after the ODI World Cup last year and some decisions not going in his favor.

In the ODI World Cup last year, Iyer scored 530 runs with the help of two centuries and five half-centuries and his average was 66.25. He was third in the list of highest run-scorers for India.

Iyer and wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan were not included in the BCCI’s Central Contract due to giving priority to IPL over domestic cricket.

Iyer said in a video released on his YouTube channel, “I had performed brilliantly in the World Cup and after that, I wanted to rest for a few days. Due to a lack of communication, some decisions did not go in my favor. But at the end of the day, the bat will be in my hand and it is up to me how I perform. I decided that winning the Ranji Trophy and IPL would be a strong answer to what happened in the past and thankfully, everything went my way.”
