The IPL 2026 final will see two strong teams battle for the title as the Royal Challers Bengaluru (RCB) take on the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31.
The rivalry between the two sides is still young, but it has already produced several exciting matches. GT joined the IPL in 2022 and have quickly become one of the strongest teams in the tournament.
RCB enter the final with momentum after a dominant 92-run win over GT in Qualifier 1 on May 26. Batting first, RCB posted 254/5 before bowling GT out for 162.
Before that match, both teams had won three games each in their head-to-head meetings since 2025. The latest victory gave RCB a slight edge in the rivalry.
RCB and GT have been evenly matched
The two teams have faced each other nine times in IPL history. RCB have won five matches, while GT have won four.
Many of their contests have featured big scores and standout performances from star batters such as Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. Fans have also witnessed memorable centuries and successful run chases in this fixture.
At Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, both teams have won two matches each from four meetings. GT’s famous win in 2023 came when Gill smashed an unbeaten century while chasing 198.
RCB responded with a victory in their most recent home clash despite a century from Sai Sudharsan. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal guided the hosts to a successful chase.
The record is equally balanced at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The teams have met twice at the venue, with one win each.
RCB’s memorable victory came in 2024 when they chased 200 in just 16 overs, powered by Will Jacks’ stunning century. GT later levelled the record with a comfortable chase after restricting RCB to 155.
With the head-to-head record standing at 5-4 in RCB’s favour, another close contest is expected in the IPL 2026 final.
