Rachin Ravindra creates history! Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most runs in a single edition of World Cup under the age of 25

Rachin Ravindra recently talked with Star Sports after the post match ceremony about how he felt  while playing in his hometown, and the Chinnaswamy Stadium for the first time in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. New Zealand recently defeated Sri Lanka and being the local boy in Bangalore, Rachin Ravindra showcased an amazing performance in the game with both bat and the ball.

Rachin shattered two previous records during the match, scoring most runs in a maiden World Cup edition, after defeating England’s Jonny Bairstow who scored 532 runs, and the Player with most runs in a single edition of World Cup under the age of 25 after beating Sachin Tendulkar who scored 523.

Rachin Ravindra on the surreal feeling of playing in Bangalore

“It’s a pretty surreal feeling. Playing in Bangalore with my extended family is always special and I won’t take for granted when the crowd chants your name. To be compared to the great man (Sachin Tendulkar) is something I never dreamt of. Lucky it all worked out. 6 to 12 months ago I was not in the frame”, said Rachin Ravindra

“Accolades and individual things aside, good to be in the playoffs. [on taking the catch that gave Ajaz his 10-fer in that Test] My most nervy moment of my career. I was lucky to catch that, it was all Ajaz’s work. I’m lucky to have come here through my teenage years, experience the practice wickets – helps me a lot. Nice wicket and fast outfields, try to adapt as best I can,” he added.

“Talk to Devon, talk to Kane who have played in the IPL, get golden nuggets from them whenever I can. Still water under the bridge and we will be watching those games. I idolised Kane, idolised a lot of guys in this World Cup, Kohli, Root, Steve Smith and I felt ooh, I’m playing with them,” added Rachin.

“I’m lucky to have that freedom from the guys. Thank you to the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the crowd for all the support. It is a special place in my heart and I look forward to playing more cricket here,” he concluded.
