Pakistan produced a stunning performance against India at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 on Friday. They chased down India’s target of 89 in just 3.5 overs at the Mission Road Ground.
Pakistan finished on 92 for two to win the Group C match by four wickets. The result also took them to the top of the group standings.
India had a difficult outing after being asked to bat first. They managed only 88 for five from their six overs. It was the lowest total recorded by any team on the opening day of the tournament.
Shashank Singh was the standout batter for India. He smashed 40 runs from only 11 balls. However, his explosive knock was not enough to rescue India after a poor start.
Nitish Rana scored 19, while Rahul Tripathi made only nine. Captain Krunal Pandya and Rahul Tewatia also failed to make a major impact.
Pakistan openers destroy India’s bowling attack
Pakistan made the chase look extremely easy. Openers Khawaja Nafay and Abbas Afridi attacked from the first ball.
Nafay scored 41 runs from 12 balls. Afridi smashed 35 from just eight deliveries. Together, they added 59 runs from only 13 balls.
Afridi was particularly destructive against India’s bowling. He hit five sixes in Krunal Pandya’s first over. Pakistan quickly moved into a commanding position.
Abdul Samad and Irfan Khan then finished the chase. Pakistan reached 92 for two in only 3.5 overs.
The win was important for Pakistan after they had earlier lost to UAE by one wicket. They are now at the top of Group C, while India are at the bottom.
India now face a must-win match against UAE on October 31. They need a big victory to keep their hopes alive.
The Hong Kong Sixes features 12 teams divided into four groups. Each team plays two group matches, with only the group winners reaching the semi-finals. The tournament will run until November 1, when the final will be played.
