Mumbai Indians focus on key signings, aiming for their sixth IPL title with a balanced squad
Mumbai Indians (MI) entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with a strategic plan to reinforce their core group while staying within a budget of INR 45 crore. With key players like Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Varma already retained, MI focused on calculated acquisitions to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
The first major move came on Day 1, as MI secured New Zealand pacer Trent Boult for INR 12.50 crore. Boult’s rich experience in the IPL and his lethal pace make him a crucial addition to their bowling attack. The franchise also brought back Punjab batter Naman Dhir for INR 5.25 crore to enhance their middle order.
MI continued their smart signings with veteran leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who was re-signed for INR 50 lakh. Jharkhand’s explosive batter Robin Minz was another highlight, joining the squad for INR 65 lakh, adding firepower to the lower order.
On Day 2, MI made key investments in their bowling department by acquiring Indian pacer Deepak Chahar for INR 9.25 crore and Afghan spinner Allah Ghazanfar for INR 4.80 crore. Their final marquee signing was England’s destructive batter Will Jacks, signed for INR 5.25 crore.
With a combination of experienced internationals and promising talent, Mumbai Indians are poised to mount a serious challenge for their sixth IPL title in 2025.
