Matthew Hayden Appointed Batting Coach of Gujarat Titans

Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden has been appointed as the batting coach of Gujarat Titans. The franchise confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, March 10.

Hayden is regarded as one of the greatest opening batters in modern cricket. His experience at the highest level is expected to help the Titans strengthen their batting unit ahead of the upcoming seasons.

The announcement was made by the franchise management. They believe Hayden’s presence will help the team build a strong batting culture. His knowledge of the game and his aggressive style of batting could be useful for young players in the squad.

Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket for Gujarat Titans, welcomed Hayden to the team and spoke about the importance of his appointment.

“Matthew’s appointment comes at a pivotal phase in our journey. As a franchise committed to excellence and long-term success, we are constantly focused on strengthening our cricketing ecosystem.

“His experience at the highest level, coupled with his ability to mentor emerging talent, will be instrumental in shaping our batting identity for the seasons ahead.”

Hayden also shared his thoughts after taking up the new role with the IPL franchise. He said he wants the team to play strong and dominant cricket with the bat.

“Good batting applies pressure. Great batting owns the game. That’s the standard we want to set at Gujarat Titans.”

During his playing career, Hayden represented Australia national cricket team in 273 international matches across formats. He scored more than 15,000 international runs and played a key role in several ICC tournament victories for Australia.

After retirement, Hayden also worked as a coach. He previously served in a coaching role with the Pakistan national cricket team.

Hayden also has experience in the Indian Premier League as a player. He played 32 matches for Chennai Super Kings and scored 1107 runs during his IPL career.
