The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) dominated headlines during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction by signing Rishabh Pant for a record-breaking ₹27 crore, the highest bid in IPL history. This monumental deal eclipsed Mitchell Starc’s previous ₹24.75 crore record, underscoring LSG’s intent to strengthen their batting and leadership.
Retaining Nicholas Pooran ahead of the auction, LSG focused on constructing a balanced lineup. Star signings like David Miller, Aiden Markram, and Mitchell Marsh brought a wealth of international experience, while pacer Avesh Khan (₹9.75 crore) and explosive batter Abdul Samad added depth. Young talent Aryan Juyal also joined the squad, enhancing their bench strength.
Day 2: Targeting Bowlers and All-rounders
Entering Day 2 with ₹14.85 crore, LSG prioritized their bowling and all-rounder departments. They secured Akash Deep for ₹8 crore, adding firepower to their pace attack. Later, all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed was snapped up for ₹2.4 crore, adding versatility to the lineup. The franchise also exercised their RTM card to retain West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph, further strengthening their bowling depth.
