The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be held from December 1 to 23, 2025, marking the longest season in the tournament’s history. The 24-day event promises action-packed T20 cricket across three top venues in Sri Lanka.
This year’s edition will feature 24 matches in total, including 20 league games and four knockout matches. The games will take place at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy, and Rangiri Dambulla Stadium in Dambulla.
The extended schedule aims to increase competition among the five franchises and provide players valuable match exposure ahead of a major cricket year. Positioned as a key preparation event before the 2026 Cricket World Cup, this season marks an important step in the league’s growth.

For the first time ever, Indian cricketers are expected to join the tournament. Their names will be revealed soon, bringing extra excitement for fans across the region.

“The timing of this edition has been carefully chosen to ensure that players gain maximum exposure and high-quality match practice in the lead-up to a global cricketing year. Over the seasons, the LPL has emerged as a breeding ground for fresh talent, with several youngsters making their mark alongside international stars. This year too, we believe the league will throw up exciting new names who can go on to spring surprises on the world stage ahead of the World Cup.”
LPL 2025 Full Schedule
The full schedule of Lanka Premier League 2025 has not been announced yet. However, the tournament format will see all five teams play each other twice in the league stage. The top four will then move to the playoffs, which include Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final.
