Delhi Capitals pacer Kyle Jamieson has received an official warning and one Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. The incident took place during Match No. 43 against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The match was played on Friday night and attracted attention due to the expected contest between young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and senior pacer Mitchell Starc.
However, Jamieson grabbed the spotlight early. He dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in just the second over. The young batter had started well. He hit a confident boundary on the first ball he faced. The shot showed his talent and calm mindset. But Jamieson responded smartly on the next ball. He bowled a dipping full toss that confused the batter.
Jamieson penalised after Sooryavanshi wicket celebration
Sooryavanshi tried to defend. He misjudged the delivery. The ball went under his bat and hit the stumps after a faint edge. It was a clever setup by Jamieson. The bowler used variation to outplay the youngster.
After taking the wicket, Jamieson celebrated close to the batter. This action was seen as aggressive. It was considered a breach of conduct rules. Sooryavanshi did not react and stayed calm.
“Jamieson was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to ‘using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match’. The incident occurred in the second over of the first innings, when, after dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Jamieson was found to be close to him in an aggressive manner, which could have provoked an aggressive reaction from the batter,” the BCCI stated in the release.
In the match, Delhi Capitals bounced back strongly. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. RR scored 225 runs after batting first. Riyan Parag scored 90 runs, while Donovan Ferreira added 47.
Delhi chased the target comfortably. KL Rahul scored 75 and Pathum Nissanka made 62. Their 110-run opening partnership helped Delhi win with five balls remaining.
