KL Rahul’s fearless knock vs Rajasthan Royals earns praise from former coach in IPL 2026

KL Rahul continued his brilliant form in IPL 2026. The Delhi Capitals star played a stunning innings against Rajasthan Royals on May 1 in Jaipur. He scored 75 runs off just 40 balls. His knock helped Delhi chase a big target of 226 runs. The team won the match by seven wickets with five balls left.

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar praised Rahul after the match. He said Rahul has changed his approach in recent times. Bangar believes Rahul is now playing a more aggressive brand of cricket. This change is helping him succeed in modern-day T20 cricket.

Bangar highlights Rahul’s change in approach

Bangar said Rahul has adapted well to the current demands of the game. He also mentioned that players like Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill have made similar changes.

“He has shown adaptability, and we have discussed this before as well. Questions were also raised about Virat Kohli, and many players had to adapt to the way India is playing now. Everyone has to follow this template. Shubman Gill has also shown that change, and it is visible in his game. If you play like this, only then you can survive in today’s cricket,” Bangar said during a discussion on his YouTube channel.

Bangar further added that Rahul must continue this fearless style to remain successful.

“There has definitely been a change, and it is clearly visible because he has understood that if you want to survive in modern cricket, especially franchise cricket like the IPL, you have to play this brand of cricket. He has adapted beautifully. Earlier, in the last few seasons, he used to play a few innings like this, but now he has realised that he needs to play in this template. Only then can he survive, only then can his team win, and only then can his name stay relevant in terms of selection discussions, especially for India in this format,” he observed.

Rahul is now the Orange Cap holder. He has scored 433 runs in nine matches with a strike rate of 185.84.
