Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) entered the IPL 2025 auction with a remaining purse of ₹51 crore and a retained core of six players, including Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. With no Right-to-Match (RTM) card, KKR aimed to strategically enhance their lineup with impactful yet cost-effective additions.

Day 1: Venkatesh Iyer Returns in Mega Deal

KKR made headlines on Day 1 by reacquiring Venkatesh Iyer for a whopping ₹23.75 crore, making him the highest-paid player of their squad. Additionally, KKR brought back Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, two talents nurtured in their setup, adding depth to their batting order.

Day 2: Strengthening the Bowling Attack

With ₹10.05 crore left, KKR focused on all-rounders and bowlers on Day 2. Key signings included Australian pacer Spencer Johnson and Rovman Powell. Manish Pandey’s return further bolstered their batting experience. Emerging talents like Vaibhav Arora and Mayank Markande added variety to the bowling unit.

As IPL 2024 champions, KKR wrapped up the auction with a well-rounded squad of 21 players, featuring a mix of seasoned campaigners and young prospects. The additions of Moeen Ali, Anrich Nortje, and Ajinkya Rahane bring versatility and depth to the lineup.
