Jasprit Bumrah’s wicketless run worries critics after Rajasthan Royals’ destructive attack

Former India batter Aakash Chopra has raised concerns over Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in IPL 2026. He pointed out that the star pacer has not taken a single wicket in the three matches he has played so far.

Bumrah, who leads the bowling attack of Mumbai Indians, has conceded 88 runs in 11 overs. His economy rate is 8.00, but he remains wicketless. Chopra feels that Bumrah’s inability to take key wickets is hurting the team in close matches.

In MI’s last game against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati, Bumrah gave away 32 runs in three overs. He failed to make any breakthrough in the rain-affected match.

“Jasprit Bumrah, this is an interesting stat, actually. Jassi has bowled 11 overs in three matches, has conceded 88 runs, has an economy of 8.00, and is wicketless. It’s been three matches, and he hasn’t picked up a wicket. The economy is acceptable, as he bowls in the powerplay and at the death and bowls the difficult overs, but he even got hit in this match,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Mumbai Indians’ bowling unit under pressure

Chopra also highlighted bigger issues in Mumbai’s bowling attack. While Bumrah has been economical, other bowlers have leaked too many runs.

“When you think about the others, you realize that Mumbai have a major bowling problem. Deepak Chahar has conceded 42 runs in four overs in two matches. He has an economy of 10.5. Hardik Pandya has an economy of 11.2. Allah Ghazanfar has an economy of 12. Trent Boult also has an economy of 12,” he observed.

Despite strong batting performances, Mumbai have struggled due to poor bowling. The team is currently seventh on the IPL 2026 points table.

MI will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium. The Hardik Pandya-led side will look to bounce back at home.
