The Irani Cup 2025 is set to begin on October 1 in Nagpur. The one-off five-day match will be played between Ranji Trophy 2024-25 winners Vidarbha (VID) and the Rest of India (ROI). The game will take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha. The start time is 9:30 am (IST) each day.
Vidarbha are ready for the big challenge. Under captain Akshay Wadkar, they won the Ranji Trophy last season. They finished as Group B toppers with six wins in seven matches. In the knockouts, Vidarbha defeated Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, and Kerala to lift the title. Yash Rathod scored 960 runs in 18 innings and was their leading batter. Harsh Dubey was the star bowler with 69 wickets in 19 innings.
The Rest of India squad for Irani Cup 2025 looks strong on paper. Rajat Patidar will lead the side. He also guided Central Zone to the Duleep Trophy win this year. Patidar was in good form with the bat, scoring two centuries and two fifties in five innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be his deputy. The squad also features Ishan Kishan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Akash Deep.
