IPL 2026 Mini-Auction To Be Held In December: Big Player Changes Expected

A major update has arrived for the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Reports suggest that the much-awaited mini-auction for IPL 2026 will be held in December 2025. This time, the event is expected to take place in India, unlike the last two years when it was held overseas. The likely dates for the auction are from December 13 to 15.

CSK And RR Expected To Make Major Changes

Before the auction, all teams must confirm their retained and released players. According to reports, the retention deadline is November 15, and the future of several big names could be decided by then.

There have been ongoing talks about player trades and possible releases in the past few months. As per the latest updates, uncertainty remains over some key players like Sanju Samson and Venkatesh Iyer.

According to Cricbuzz, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who finished last in the 2025 IPL season, are likely to make the most changes. Their budget has already increased following the retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin, and more big releases could follow.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR), who ended at the second-last position, are also expected to part ways with a few expensive players. Reports earlier claimed that Sanju Samson was unhappy and did not want to continue with the team. However, with the removal of Rahul Dravid, sources say the franchise is now making strong efforts to keep their captain.
