IPL 2026: 21 year old Mukul Choudhary’s stunning finish helps Lucknow Super Giants seal last-ball win, dedicates heroics to MS Dhoni

Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a thrilling win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 9. The match went down to the last ball and kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Chasing 182 runs on a difficult pitch, Lucknow were in big trouble. They were 128/7 after 16 overs. The game looked almost over. Mukul Choudhary was new at the crease and had faced only six balls at that point. Avesh Khan was at the other end.

Lucknow needed 54 runs from the last four overs. The pressure was high. But Choudhary stayed calm. He played fearless cricket and attacked the bowlers.

The 21-year-old smashed an unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls. His innings included two fours and seven big sixes. One of his shots, a helicopter shot, stood out. It reminded fans of MS Dhoni.

After the match, Choudhary spoke about his idol. He said, “I have always seen MS Dhoni because I was a keeper. I am a keeper. So I have grown up seeing him, the helicopter shot he plays. The 2011 World Cup always keeps playing (in my head). I remember everything.”

He also shared his dream of becoming a finisher like Dhoni. “He has been my role model. I am also a finisher; I want to be like him and finish games like him. So he is my role model,” he added.

Lucknow won the match on the final ball with a bye. It was their second straight win. Kolkata Knight Riders, however, are still winless after four matches in IPL 2026.
