In a big development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) may punish Pakistani players Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf. The issue is linked to their controversial gestures during the Asia Cup clash against India.
The ICC has summoned both players after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) filed an official complaint. Reports suggest that the two cricketers could face heavy fines.
Pakistan Players Under ICC’s Radar after brutal gestures in IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 Clash
The recent India-Pakistan matches were one-sided. But many statements and actions by players grabbed attention. After the game, the entire Indian team, including captain Suryakumar Yadav, did not shake hands with Pakistan players. In response, Rauf and Farhan made gestures that were seen as politically motivated.
Sahibzada Farhan was at the centre of controversy after performing the “Bazooka” celebration. Many felt it was aimed at the Indian side. But the Pakistani opener denied this. He told the ICC that it was not political. As reported by India Today journalist Nikhil Naz, Farhan even said that stars like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni had done similar celebrations before.
However, Nikhil Naz later gave an update. He revealed that Farhan will likely be fined between fifty to hundred per cent of his match fees.
Haris Rauf may face the same punishment. He was accused of mocking Indian fans by making a reference to Pakistan’s air force’s unverified claim of downing six Indian jets. But according to the journalist, neither Rauf nor Farhan will be suspended.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been declared to be out of in trouble. Reports had suggested that he could be fined 15 per cent of his match fees, however, he has now been cleared by ICC. This is linked to his comments on the Pahalgam terror attack during the post-match presentation of the group-stage game.
Despite all this controversy, the focus will soon shift back to the field. India and Pakistan are set to meet again in the Asia Cup final on September 28. The arch-rivals will fight for the trophy, but off-field issues continue to make headlines.
