ICC Charges USA Player Aaron Jones in Anti-Corruption Case, Provisional Suspension Imposed

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged United States of America (USA) cricketer Aaron Jones with multiple breaches of anti-corruption rules. The charges relate to both domestic and international cricket. As a result, Jones has been provisionally suspended from all forms of cricket with immediate effect.

Jones has been given 14 days, starting from January 28, to respond to the charges. The case is part of a wider investigation. More charges against other individuals are expected in the future.

Charges Linked to Bim10 Tournament and International Matches

Most of the charges are connected to the Bim10 tournament played during the 2023–24 season. This tournament falls under the jurisdiction of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Anti-Corruption Code. Two additional charges relate to international matches and fall under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

Aaron Jones has been charged with five separate offences. The most serious charge is related to fixing or attempting to fix matches. This includes influencing the result, progress, or conduct of games in the Bim10 tournament.

He has also been charged with failing to report corrupt approaches. According to the charges, Jones did not disclose details of invitations or approaches that would amount to breaches of the anti-corruption code.

Another charge relates to a failure to cooperate with an investigation. Jones is accused of not assisting a reasonable investigation carried out by the designated anti-corruption official.

Under the ICC Code, Jones faces charges for failing to disclose full details of corrupt approaches to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). He has also been accused of obstructing the investigation by concealing or tampering with information relevant to the case.

The ICC confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Further charges against other participants are likely to be issued in due course.
