‘I feel much better now’ – LSG Pacer Mayank Yadav Optimistic After Successful Recovery Program Post-IPL 2024

The Young Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav, renowned for his blistering pace and pinpoint accuracy during the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has expressed optimism about his recovery. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) sensation garnered significant attention with his consistent performances, earning consecutive Player of the Match accolades for his economical bowling spells.

Mayank’s impressive run in the 2024 IPL season was abruptly cut short due to an injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) advised Yadav to focus on his recovery, ensuring he only returns to competitive cricket when fully fit. Consequently, Mayank has been recuperating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru under the supervision of medical experts and trainers.

In a recent interview with Telegraph India, Mayank shared an encouraging update on his progress. “My recovery program went very well and I feel much better now. I feel much fitter as well. Yes, I’ll have to spend some more time here, but the good thing is, I’ve been bowling with the full run-up and a lot of intensity over the past few days. I’m happy with my progress so far,” he said.

‘If he’s rushed into the Indian team it’s a risk of breakdown’ – BCCI Official

A BCCI official highlighted the importance of allowing Yadav ample time to regain full fitness. Mayank Yadav’s ability to consistently deliver 150 kmph thunderbolts has marked him as one of the fastest bowlers in Indian cricket history.

“A young fast bowler like Mayank needs to be given the necessary amount of time to first cope with the needs of the different formats. So, he’s still being closely monitored. If he’s rushed into the Indian team, it’s a risk as that could lead to a breakdown. So, if needed, getting him ready for India could also begin next year. However, if he plays in the Duleep Trophy and does well, he may also be considered for the coming home series (against Bangladesh and New Zealand),” the official stated.
