Lionel Messi is coming back to India. The football legend confirmed on Thursday that he will be part of the GOAT Tour 2025 in December. It will be Messi’s first visit to the country since 2011.
“It is such an honour for me to make this trip. India is a very special country, and I have good memories from my time there 14 years ago – the fans were fantastic,” Messi said in an official statement.
“India is a passionate football nation, and I look forward to meeting a new generation of fans while sharing the love I have for this beautiful game,” he added.
Four cities, concerts, and star appearances as Lionel Messi confirms India visit for GOAT Tour 2025
The four-city tour will begin in Kolkata on December 13. After that, Messi will travel to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and finally New Delhi on December 15.
In Kolkata, the Salt Lake Stadium will once again welcome Messi. The stadium hosted him back in 2011, when Argentina beat Venezuela 1-0 in a FIFA international friendly. This time, the venue will hold concerts and special events. Messi is also expected to share the stage with big Indian sporting names like Sourav Ganguly, Bhaichung Bhutia, and Leander Paes.
In Mumbai, Messi will headline the Padel GOAT Cup. A glittering line-up is expected for the event. Stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and top Bollywood actors are likely to take part.
Messi’s December trip could also follow another major football moment in India. Argentina’s men’s team, coached by Lionel Scaloni, has included India in its FIFA international window in November. A friendly is planned in Kerala between November 10 and 18.
