Liam Livingstone was brilliant for Punjab Kings again, banging a quick-fire 64 off just 27 balls, whilst a late augment from Rahul Chahar (22*) and Arshdeep Singh (10*) proved crucial as Punjab Kings reached 189/9 in 20 overs versus the Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium.
Gujarat had made a magnificent start to the game, removing Mayank Agarwal and Jonny Bairstow early in the Powerplay. Whilst Hardik Pandya dismissed the PBKS captain, Mayank Agarwal on 5, Bairstow was grabbed by Lockie Ferguson on 8.
Nevertheless, Livingstone remained stubborn with the early blows as he banged the bowlers all around the ground, and even as Punjab lost wickets at regular intervals, Livingstone’s continuous scoring assured it didn’t affect their run-rate.
Following Livingstone and Shahrukh (15) were sent back in a single over by Rashid Khan (3/22), Chahar and Arshdeep forged an undefeated 27-run stand to take the PBKS to a strong score.
However, in the last two deliveries of the game, GT star Rahul Tewatia slammed consecutive 2 sixes to maintain the winning streak of the GT in the league.
