In the ongoing 4-match home Test series against Australia, the Indian team has won the first two matches to take an edge in the series. Indian opener KL Rahul did not produce any interesting innings in both the matches. Rahul has been able to score only 38 runs in three innings.
KL Rahul’s constant struggle has become a headache for the Indian team, for this he is facing criticism in various media. Many former cricketers have commented on Rahul’s poor form. While some veteran players have supported Rahul, while Others have proposed dropping him from the team. In the last couple of days former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra had been engaged in the Tweet war regarding KL Rahul.
However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid also supported KL Rahul. This is the big relief for Rahul. Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir has also given an important statement on this matter, he has supported Rahul in bad times. KL Rahul is the captain of Lucknow Supergiants & Gambhir is the mentor of his team in IPL.
Speaking to Times of India, Gautam Gambhir said, “KL Rahul should not be dropped from the Indian team now. No player should be dropped like this, all go through bad form. You have to back such players those who have talent.”
Talking further, giving the example of Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir said, “Rohit Sharma also struggled with poor form in the early stages of his career. But later he has become a great player, so we have to support KL Rahul as well.”
The 30-year-old Rahul’s poor form has continued since January 2022. Since then, Rahul has played 6 Test matches and managed only 175 runs in 11 innings. He has not even been able to score 200 runs in his last 11 innings. The Indian team has been announced for the next two Test matches against Australia. KL Rahul’s name has been removed from vice-captaincy.
