Ferrari’s long-time competition strategy engineer Ravin Jain has taken over from Spain’s Inaki Rueda as head of strategy for the iconic automaker’s F1 team.
Jain begins high-pressure work at next weekend’s season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. According to reports from, Ferrari F1 team management decided to promote Jain after several high-profile mistakes last season.
Ferrari did well last season with Charles Leclerc finishing second to Red Bull title winner Max Verstappen.
Their co-driver George Russell was fourth. Some questionable calls last year included poor pit strategy at the Monaco GP which cost Leclerc a potential win, while at the Brazilian GP he was the only driver to use the start of qualifying 3 on medium tyres.
Jain joined Scuderia Ferrari in 2017 and has risen to Race Strategy Engineer over the past six years.
Rueda will continue as part of the team in a factory-based sporting role at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello.
