Chennai Super Kings hold the nerve to beat Delhi Capitals and enter another IPL finals. MS Dhoni won the toss early on and decided to field first at the Dubai international stadium.

Prithvi Shaw gave Delhi an absolutely perfect start in the powerplay. Delhi Capitals scored 51 runs in the Powerful thanks to Shaw’s blitzkrieg. He scored 60 runs off 34 balls in his innings. Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyr stitched a crucial partnership down the order for Delhi after losing Dhawan, Iyer and Axar cheaply. Pant remained not out scoring 51 runs in 35 balls. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as he claimed 2 wickets. Delhi Capitals set Chennai a target of 172 runs in 20 overs.

In the second Innings, Faf Du Plessis did not continue his good form as he was removed early on by Nortje. Robin Uthappa and Ruturaj Gaikwad played beautifully in the powerplay to lift the CSK innings. They scored 59 runs in the powerplay. Robin Uthappa scored 63 runs off 44 balls and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 70 runs off 50 balls to sink the DC bowlers. The Delhi bowlers came back into the game in the end but only until MS Dhoni came onto bat. He came ahead of Jadeja and got his team over the line. The best finisher in the world to grace the game came back in form at the right time to take Chennai home and into the finals for the 9th time.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was awarded the man of the match for his brilliance with the bat.
