The SA20 Season 4 Player Auction created history in Johannesburg. Dewald Brevis and Aiden Markram became the most expensive players ever sold in the league. The bidding wars kept everyone excited as both stars went for record-breaking prices.
Brevis was bought by Pretoria Capitals for R16.5 million (around INR 8.3 crore). This is the highest price in SA20 auction history. The previous record was R9.2 million paid for Tristan Stubbs in 2022.
Markram was picked up by Durban’s Super Giants for R14 million (around INR 7 crore). His former team, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, tried to keep him by using their Right to Match card at R12.4 million. But DSG raised their bid and secured the Proteas captain.

The six franchises spent a total of R129.3 million (around INR 65 crore) on 84 players. Out of this, R116.9 million was invested in South African players alone. Twelve Under-23 players shared R22.8 million, showing strong faith in young talent.
Pretoria Capitals’ new coach Sourav Ganguly was delighted to sign Brevis. He praised the 22-year-old batter’s ability to handle spin and called him a “game-changer” in T20 cricket. Brevis, a Pretoria-born player, will return to Centurion after three years at MI Cape Town.
