The second half of 2025 will bring exciting cricket action in Asia and East Asia-Pacific (EAP) regions with two important ICC pathway events being scheduled. These events will help teams move closer to the ICC T20 World Cups of both Men and Women’s cricket teams.
Women’s T20 EAP Qualifier in Fiji
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup EAP Qualifier will take place from September 9 to 15. All matches will be played at Albert Park in Suva, Fiji.
Eight teams will take part in the tournament. These include:
- Fiji
- Cook Islands
- Vanuatu
- Papua New Guinea
- Indonesia
- Japan
- Samoa
- Philippines
This is the first time that the Philippines women’s team will play in an ICC tournament. The teams are divided into two groups of four. After the group stage, the top teams will play in semi-finals and the final. Only the winner of the final will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
Sitiveni Rokoro, CEO of Cricket Fiji, said, “This is a proud moment for us. This is our first time hosting a women’s ICC event. It’s also the biggest women’s qualifier ever in the EAP region.” He welcomed all teams and gave a special mention to the Philippines. “This tournament shows how women’s cricket is growing in our region,” he added.

Men’s T20 Asia & EAP Qualifier in Oman
From October 8 to 17, Oman will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier. The tournament will be held at the Oman Cricket Academy in Al Amerat.
Nine teams will take part in the tournament. These include:
- Nepal
- UAE
- Malaysia
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- Japan
- Samoa
- Papua New Guinea
- Oman (host)
The format includes a Group Stage from October 8 to 10. Teams are in three groups of three. The top two teams from each group will go to the Super Six Stage (October 12-17). At the end of the Super Six, the top three teams will qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in India and Sri Lanka.
Alkesh Joshi, Treasurer of Oman Cricket, said, “We are excited to host this major ICC event. It will help our players grow. We also want fans to enjoy the games, so entry to all matches will be free.” He thanked Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for their support. “This event shows Oman’s growing role in international cricket,” he added.
