Chinese snooker banned from attending the World Snooker Tour

Yan Bingtao, one in every of the rising stars in snooker, has joined a growing list of Chinese players to induce suspended by the sport’s establishment as a part of a corruption investigation.

Bingtao, a 22-year-old won the celebrated Masters tournament last year, has been illegal from attending or competitory with immediate impact, the World Snooker Tour aforesaid Monday.

“This decision is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of manipulating the outcome of matches for betting purposes,” the organization said. “The suspension will remain in place until the conclusion of the investigation or any subsequent charges that may or may not be brought.”

On Friday, 5 Chinese players — Lu Ning, Li Hang, Zhao Jianbo, Bai Langning and Chang Bingyu — were suspended by WST.

That follows the suspension of countryman Liang Wenbo on October. 27, conjointly on allegations of manipulating matches for indulgent functions.
