CSK builds a balanced squad with a mix of experience and youth as they aim for their sixth IPL title
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made bold moves at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, assembling a powerful squad to push for a record-breaking sixth IPL title. The auction saw CSK reunite with former players and invest in promising talents, showcasing their intent to maintain their legacy.
The highlight of CSK’s auction was the emotional homecoming of Ravichandran Ashwin, signed for ₹9.75 crore after a decade away from the franchise. Ashwin, a local favorite, is expected to strengthen CSK’s spin arsenal alongside Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad, their most expensive signing at ₹10 crore.
Adding to their batting firepower, CSK re-signed New Zealand opener Devon Conway for ₹6.25 crore and acquired Rachin Ravindra (₹4 crore) and Rahul Tripathi (₹3.40 crore). England all-rounder Sam Curran returned to the squad for ₹2.40 crore, adding depth to both batting and bowling.
CSK also focused on pace with shrewd buys like Khaleel Ahmed (₹4.80 crore), Nathan Ellis, and Jamie Overton. Emerging Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj was a key addition at ₹3.40 crore. Experienced all-rounder Deepak Hooda joined for ₹1.70 crore, bolstering the team’s middle-order options.
With MS Dhoni at the helm, the squad combines the wisdom of veterans with the energy of young talent, making CSK a formidable contender for IPL 2025.
