A big investigation has confirmed that many teams and players were involved in match-fixing in the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The findings have raised serious doubts about the honesty of the league and its management.
The report was published by Prothom Alo. It said that the BPL investigation committee found 36 unusual events in the last season. These included strange batting shots and suspicious bowling. Some bowlers even gave away wides and easy deliveries to change the match results.
The probe named 10-12 players. Among them were two current Bangladesh internationals, a fast bowler and an off-spinner. Several domestic players were also involved.
BPL Players and Officials Under Suspicion
The investigation divided the players into three groups. A few players were “highly flagged”. This means there is strong proof that they were directly part of fixing. Some were “medium” or “low flagged”, where suspicion exists but evidence is weaker.
One player in the list was also part of Bangladesh’s recent Sri Lanka tour. This has caused worry about risks to the national team.

Most of the accused cricketers are over 35 years old. Many of them may never return to international cricket. Still, the scandal has badly damaged their reputations.
Shockingly, a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sub-committee was also found guilty. He was linked to fixing deals with some franchises. Officials from three teams – Durbar Rajshahi, Sylhet Strikers, and Dhaka Capitals admitted they took part in manipulation.
The report is expected to recommend that all accused players, officials, and managers should stay banned until they can prove they are innocent.
The probe also reached broadcast partners. Some TV channels were accused of running betting ads. They reportedly earned 170-180 crore taka through such illegal promotions.
The scandal has created a storm in Bangladesh cricket. Fans and experts are now asking tough questions about the BPL’s integrity. The league must take strong steps to win back trust and protect the game’s future.
