BCCI to restrict after match fireworks show in Delhi and Mumbai due to rising pollution levels

BCCI  secretary Jay Shah recently announced that after game fireworks show will not be conducted in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 games which will be held in Delhi and Mumbai. Jay Shah presented the matter in front of the ICC considering the poor AQI in New Delhi and Mumbai.

Jay Shah proposed that the BCCI understands the poor atmospheric conditions in Mumbai and Delhi which made him present the matter in front of the ICC, and the fireworks show will  add to the pollution levels from their side.

“The Indian cricket board is sensitive to environmental concerns. I took up the matter formally with the ICC and there won’t be any fireworks display in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level. The Board is committed to combating environmental issues and will always place the interest of our fans and stakeholders at the forefront”, said Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary.

“The BCCI acknowledges the urgent concern surrounding air quality in both Mumbai and New Delhi. While we strive to host the ICC World Cup in a manner befitting the celebration of cricket, we remain steadfast in our commitment to prioritising the health and safety of all our stakeholders”, he said.
