BCCI files complaint against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan with ICC after heated IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 clash

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan. The issue relates to their gestures during the Asia Cup Super Four game in Dubai last Sunday.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the complaint was sent by email on Wednesday. The ICC has confirmed it has received it. If Rauf and Farhan deny the charges in writing, the ICC may hold a hearing. Match referee Richie Richardson is likely to lead it. Andy Pycroft is also serving as a referee for the tournament.

Reports say Farhan’s celebration after reaching his half-century is one reason for the complaint. Another reason is Rauf’s gestures towards fans while fielding on the boundary. Both incidents spread quickly on social media.

PCB Files Counter Complaint against Suryakumar Yadav after IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025

At the same time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly filed a counter-complaint. It is against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. The PCB believes his post-match comments after India’s win in the first round on September 14 were political. Yadav had dedicated the victory to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.

“Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all, and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile,” Yadav said at the presentation.

The match also had tension before and after play. At the toss, the two captains did not shake hands. Players also skipped the usual greetings at the end. This incident has been called “handshake-gate” and has been widely discussed in the tournament.

On the field, things were no different. India’s batters had heated exchanges with Haris Rauf. Shaheen Shah Afridi also had verbal duels with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.
