The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will be held from September 9 to September 28. This was confirmed by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The tournament will be played in the T20I format. A total of eight teams will take part. These include five full ACC members India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Three other teams, Hong Kong, Oman, and UAE, will also join them.
This was announced during the ACC’s annual meeting held in Dhaka. The Asia Cup was a major topic of discussion. There were some doubts about the tournament after the India-Pakistan military tensions in May. At that time, Naqvi did not confirm the dates or venue. But now, the tournament has been officially confirmed.

IND vs PAK Likely in Asia Cup 2025
India are the official hosts of this edition. But due to the current political situation, India and Pakistan cannot play in each other’s countries. So, as per an agreement between the BCCI and PCB, a neutral venue will be used when either team is hosting. This agreement will remain in place for three years.
This same rule was used during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 which was held in Pakistan. India played all their matches, including the one against Pakistan, in Dubai. India also won the final, which was also played in Dubai.
It is not yet officially confirmed whether India and Pakistan will be in the same group. But it is likely, as it has been the case in past editions. This increases the chance of multiple India vs Pakistan matches. There can be up to three games between the two sides if both reach the final.
India are the defending champions. They beat Sri Lanka in the 2023 final. Sri Lanka had won the 2022 T20I edition by beating Pakistan in the final.
