Asia Cup 2022 to be conducted In Sri Lanka from 27th of August

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday declared that the forthcoming version of the Asia Cup will be organized later this year from 27th of August to 11th of September. The tourney will be played in the T20 format whilst the qualifiers for the same will start from 20th of August.

The ACC stated in an official statement, “The Asia Cup 2022 (T20 Format) will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August – 11 September later this year. The Qualifiers for the same will be played 20 August 2022 onwards.”

The Asia Cup is conducted every two years however the 2020 version of the competition was abandoned because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the establishment of the tournament in 1984, India remain the most successful nation in the history of the Asia Cup, triumphing 7 of the 14 versions so far, counting the last two editions (1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018).

The forthcoming edition of the Asia Cup will only be the second moment when the tourney will be competed in the T20 format.

The 2016 version was also played in the T20 format, with India defeating Bangladesh in the final in Dhaka.

In the meantime, the Indian players are currently getting ready for the upcoming season of the IPL, which commences on 26th of March.
