Ben Stokes doubtful to continue to play ODIs after England’s poor performance in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023?

England’s batting all-rounder middle order player Ben Stokes recently discussed his future plans for the one-day international format of the game. Previously in 2022, Ben Stokes had declared his retirement from the one-day international format of the game to focus better in his test captaincy and the shortest format of the game, T20 cricket.

After a lot of consideration, Stokes decided to reverse his retirement decision and came out of retirement for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The defending champions England, had a poor performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after a stellar performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Stokes discussed that he has still not decided his future for the format and is still unsure if he wishes to continue to play the format or announce his retirement from the ODIs once again.

“All the work in the gym doesn’t compare to what you go through out there. I’m looking forward to getting it sorted and not having to worry like I have these past 18 months. From a physical point of view I’m better off than when I first got out here, but physical fitness and cricket fitness are two different things,” he added.
